"make-a love like they do in the storybooks"
Col Joy started out singing in a band which included two of his brothers. They survived a dud single to come up trumps with "Bye Bye Baby", and stayed near the top of the heap until cruelled by beatlemania. Their album "Songs That Rocked The Stadium" is an absolute classic and probably the best produced rock album of the 1950's. They had a string of top tenners, of which "Oh Yeah, Uh Huh" and "Rock'n'Rollin' Clementine" are standouts. The band worked together live into the 1970's, I last caught them at the Earlwood Ex-servicement's Club around 1971. Col did solo work on television and cut some solo records, many being 'rock revival' style albums, having a last big hit with a Country song, "Heaven Is My Woman's Love". He did the Country duet thing quite a bit together with Judy Stone. Suffering serious injury in a fall, he now appears to have moved into semi retirement.
I love playing with my horn.
